The games, apps that have brilliant animations and high-end graphics are sometimes difficult to run on the low-end smartphones due to their low hardware configuration. To overcome this there are several apps available that powers you to run Android emulator on your own windows machine.
Let's see at some of the methods to get Android OS on your windows machine.
Option 1: BlueStacks
This software can be downloaded and executed on windows and Mac machines, it enables you to run an Android emulator on your system. You can access play Store, download apps from it, install mobile games and so on.
It comes in three flavors Free, Enterprise and Custom. For this post, we will use the free version.
Steps:
1. Download the software from here.
2. Start installing the exe file.
3. Click on Next on Welcome screen
4. Select the installation directory and click Next
5. Choose the permissions you want to give to the app. It's advisable to give both the permissions to the app as in the screenshot below.
6. Click Finish on the final screen.
You are all set to use Android apps, games and other utilities on your windows machine.
Once installed it would further ask for some more information like the google account, name, enabling location services, etc.
You can freely install your desired android games, app and can run them using the high-end hardware of your windows machine. Each app can be opened in a separate tab much like we have in browsers, you can easily navigate through each of the opened applications by switching between these tabs. Furthermore, the use of a keyboard enables super easy navigation throughout.

Option 2: Andy
Another good option is to install Andy. It can be downloaded from here.Install the exe once the download is complete.
Furthermore, Android devices running Android 2.2 and above can be used as a remote control. Using this you can play games and interact with apps more effectively making use of multitouch, gyroscope, accelerometer, location and various other sensors. Refer here for detailed instructions.
Option 3: AMIDuOS
Developed by American Megatrends, it supports windows 7, 8 and 10. The trial version comes in two flavors AMIDuOS PRO ( Lollipop ) and AMIDuOS LITE ( Jellybean ). Download the 32-bit or 64-bit installer for your machine from here.
Upon installation, it creates a desktop shortcut. It further comes with a DuOS Configuration tool which lets you configure several things. It looks like this:
The best part is you can map your local folders on your hard drive for music, pictures, documents, and videos with your Android emulator which can be then accessed within the emulator. You can play music directly from the Android screen, access docs, videos, etc.
The configuration tool also allows you to set your screen size, DPI, RAM etc. Useful isn't it?
